Linoleum Cork Bamboo Rustic Bamboo

Traditional manufacturing methods for many types of flooring have not been friendly to mother earth. There is a strong movement within the industry to correct this historical trend. Until that goal is achieved, there are currently a number of materials that have a much kinder impact on our environment.

Linoleum is a natural product made from linseed oil, wood flour, rosin, jute and limestone. It is available in a comprehensive range of design elements. Incredibly durable and easy to clean, linoleum floors are great choices for active homes. Find out more at our partner's website, Marmoleum.

Cork is a wonderful durable and renewable material. During harvesting, the cork oak tree is not destroyed and then replanted but rather only the bark is harvested from the tree every 9 years, leaving the forest undamaged. Cork floors provide a cushioned feel to the floor and a sound dampening to the room.

Unlike hardwood floors that come from slow growing trees, bamboo flooring is produced from an extremely fast growing grass. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth. Not all bamboo flooring is created equally however. This category of flooring has suffered more than any other from poor quality imports which warp and fail soon after installation.
